Hi Tobi,

I've been messing around with Selfoss a bit - and was thinking: it might be a good idea to have a

tag here on the forum, if that's possible. That way it's easier to share code/hacks for Selfoss :-)

Hi tobi,

I have installed selfoss on my Pi following the documentation and others tutorials. After fighting with it quite a lot, I'm fairly new to this, it's finally running. Well, sort of.

When I import my xml, selfoss says that evrything has been done correctly. However, when I try to update all the sources, either from the update option or manually, there is a window that pops up saying: "can not updates sources: not found" but the sources are there, with their url and info on them.

Could you, or someone else, shed any light to this, please? It's driven me mad and can't find anything on the forums.

Cheers.

Did you check your webservers errorlog?

I experienced this on apache because multiview was enabled. When i disabled it in the apache config file the update button worked.

Hi,

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I didn't check the webserver logs... basically 'cause I don't really know where is the file to find them O_o

I did manage to make it work, though. Apparently the library php5-gd wasn't installed thus was given me that error. Now I have another kind of error; the feeds update randomly, rather that every 30 mins as I indicated in the crontab, and also there are two feeds that selfoss complains about not having enabled iconv or mbstring.

Can't find iconv but mbstring is enabled in php.ini, apache2 reloaded and restarted after enabling it, so I don't understand why it's still failling :S

Thanks a lot.

Cheers,

Depending on your webserver. For apache2 it might be /var/log/apache2/

There are different files.

No idea about your 2 feeds. However regarding the update: do you see the update not happening at all in regular 30 min. intervals or do just the feed items appear randomly?

You can try to check the selfoss logs (i think you have to enable them in selfoss config, see help file for reference).

It should be located at $www-doc-root/selfoss/data/logs/

If you have shell access you can try to "tail -f default.log" to see what is happening in real time.

Do you see the update being triggered according to your crontab settings? You should increase the frequency for testing.

Can't find iconv but mbstring is enabled in php.ini, apache2 reloaded and restarted after enabling it, so I don't understand why it's still failling :S

never heard about that kind of problem, sorry. Maybe someone did and can help you.

Thanks for the tip! Now I can see all the things happening ^^ :D

According to selfoss logs last error was yesterday at 17:30 due to mbstring problem. So no further information about the feeds or the updates.

However, early on I rebooted the Pi and now is fetching all the feeds so I guess there was some bit not fully loaded. Also, the cron schedule does work now every 30 minutes as I originally wanted.

Unfortunately, not everything are good news xD The error "Can not update sources: Not sources found." has come back when trying to do an update manually.

Is there any possibility of creating a selfoss IRC channel, maybe on freenode? I feel like a project of this scale and significance would have at least a few people idling in the channel who can maybe provide some quick solutions to simple questions. It's also easier to make basic suggestions in an IRC channel rather than plastering the forums with very minor requests.

Hi Tobi,

This is Nick from Crockchartering. First of all I admire your work & service provided in terms of Selfoss Software free of Charge. This is really pleasant for the users like self, who opened new firms & don't know outcome or results of their firms 2 years down the line so freebie makes sense.

Now then coming to my actual issue, you see I been trying to install wamp server then get Selfoss on my laptop Windows 10, unfortunately 2 days wasted on downloading all Dll files to make wamp server operational. After which now wamp server working fine and tried installing Selfoss, which as matter of fact I have tried no of times to get it working but unfortunately not seen day of light at the time of writing this mail.

Cut short and in nutshell, currently struck on local host WAMP server Selfoss page with username & password, as tried all the tricks and material available on net including uninstalling and installing but it's not taking my passwords. Pls I need ur sincere advice and urgent as am totally drained & exhausted to make this work. Will sincerely appreciate ur kind timely help if you can.

With Kind Regards,
Nick - +91-98333 03000
