Hi, the rss_max_items configuration option only controls how many items will be listed in the RSS feed generated by selfoss (e.g. https://your-selfoss-isntance.com/feed).

Item retention is controlled by items_lifetime option (30 days by default). But note that items will not be removed while they are still available in the feed (since they would just be re-added on next update).
